Kelly Moore Named Community Delegate For Friends of the World Food Program
Title bestowed on Mr. Moore by Vice President of Outreach, recently requested to attend mission in Nicaragua
Only two other delegates with the same title exist, and now founder of Music For Mankind® Kelly Moore will share the title Community Delegate for Friends of the World Food Program and its responsibilities with former NBA star Ivano Newbill and DeShawn Shepard, former Miss Maryland International.
Friends of the World Food Program Vice President, Outreach, Margot Hoerrner states, “Kelly’s generosity will make a tremendous impact in the lives of the hungry. His benefit concert series is a very enjoyable experience for all who attend, with proceeds going directly to support our work in feeding the hungry poor in 80 different countries around the world.”
One of the first requests from the Friends of the World Food Program for Kelly is to accompany the United Nations and the Friends of the World Food Program on a humanitarian trip to Nicaragua in July of this year. He will be representing Music For Mankind® and helping out with various duties with the Friends of WFP.
The title comes at a crucial time where the world is currently going through a global food crisis. Kelly will produce a 30 minute TV special for Dish Network from this trip. He already has a 5 minute video airing nationally on the Starfish Channel on Dish Network, and on over 40 Community Access and college stations around the Northeast. The video can also be viewed at www.musicformankind.net.
Friends of the World Food Program have also invited Kelly to join them on a speaking tour to donor groups. His first engagements will be this summer.

Music For Mankind® Community Charity Drive
Recently, Kelly finished a food drive in partnership with Manchester Elementary Middle School and Maple Street School, both in Manchester, VT, and raised over $2,000 of food for the Manchester Community Food Cupboard.
"The success of this food drive is certainly due to Kelly's contagious enthusiasm and commitment to helping those in need,” says Martha Carey, Manager of the Food Cupboard. “These gifts come at a critical time for CFC, as many new families have been turning to us for help as the costs of food and fuel continue to rise. These donations will also help CFC to earn funds through the Feinstein Foundation Challenge Grant, so we are especially thankful to Kelly and the students for their generosity." Read More
Music For Mankind, Inc.
May 1, 2008 marked the beginning of Music For Mankind, Inc., a new public charity, non profit corporation. Application for 501(c) (3) status will follow soon.
“I’m amazed to be doing this,” says Kelly Moore, founder of the corporation. “So much is happening, and there is so much support for this effort. Every week something new, bigger and better happens. At this point we are now able to start looking further into the future of what all this can be, and carefully plan the progress.”
Concert dates are beginning to come in, with the first in Old Forge Lakeside Bandshell, in Old Forge, NY, presented by Central Adirondack Association. Check the Tour schedule here.
Kelly has been seen and heard on various media outlets, and has had several newspaper articles written about him throughout the Northeast, and has been featured in the Vermont Arts Council Newsletter, ArtMail.

I’m really excited about the upcoming trip to Nicaragua. Margot said it will change my life. I can believe it.
Not only will I get to see, and be a part of a completely different culture, but I will get to see and personally help the people who are being helped by the World Food Program. Touching each other’s lives. Unless one travels abroad, it’s impossible to have any real sense of what other people, cultures and issues are.
Once I return, I know that the concerts we’ll perform will take on an even greater meaning for me.
Did You Know…?
The recent devastation in Myanmar is horrifying. And so many need so much help, all around the world, at such a basic level. What we’re doing can be of enormous consequence to many. It takes a community to make it happen. That’s what we’re doing…creating a sharing community everywhere we go.
It’s such an honor for me to perform with the musicians in my ensemble, Emerald Dreams. They are all so talented, and such a delight to work with, be with, and perform music together. To learn about them and see photos, click here. You can also listen to samples for my CD Celebrate! on the Audio Samples page, where you will find both studio recordings of music I perform with my ensemble, as well as Solo guitar recordings.
This year I’ve been traveling to Nashville to record a new CD, and am nearly finished. It should be ready by September, but don’t hold me to that! I’m definitely looking forward to its release. A new birthing!
